Applicants for the pre-doctoral program are required to have completed all coursework and comprehensive examinations for their doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology by the start of the internship year. The program accepts applications from all qualified candidates. Students from ethnic minority groups are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants must be either U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or non-U.S. citizens who can demonstrate employment eligibility. The general criteria for selection include study in an APA accredited doctoral program in clinical or counseling psychology, completion of comprehensive examinations, clinical experience (individual, group, family, child and adult), testing experience, community-based experience and experience or interests in providing psychological services to a diverse urban population.

• Three letters of recommendation. At least two must be from current or past clinical/practicum supervisors.
• A sample of a psychodiagnostic assessment report or a psychotherapy summary. Please observe appropriate confidentiality safeguards.

All application materials must be received by November 15. All qualified applicants will be interviewed in person during the months of November, December or January. These interviews are conducted in accordance with APPIC guidelines (see the APPIC Web-site). We are unable to conduct interviews by telephone. Each candidate will be interviewed individually in a group format by CMTP faculty. Candidates will have an opportunity to privately and confidentially inquire of current interns and to contact former interns, if desired.

Candidates are evaluated according to guidelines that allow consideration of their educational performance, training and experience, their letters of recommendation, and expressed and/or demonstrated interest in working with low-income and diverse cross-cultural populations. A final rank-ordering of candidates (from among those receiving the highest average evaluations) is accomplished through a meeting of the Director, and Core Faculty.
